These blog posts are all examples of rule breakers being held accountable for not following fundamental safety rules or, even worse, covering up their safety rule violations in order to make money.  Fortunately, the Constitution provides every resident the right to a jury trial so that these rule breakers can be held accountable for the benefit of the whole community.

$206 Million Jury verdict upheld after hospital caused brain damage in delivering baby

Woman was driving safely when an oncoming driver attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone.  Driver struck the woman’s vehicle, killing them both. 

Family was awarded $6.65 Million because nurse failed to communicate with doctor regarding findings of swelling of mom’s lungs.  Mom died hours after delivering healthy baby.

The family of a bicyclist who was killed recovered $15 million from a jury.  Although no citation was issued and the police found the cyclist did not have the right of way, the jury disagreed and found driver 100% responsible.

Driver made left turn in front of 26 year-old male on motorcycle, breaking several bones and injuring both knees severely.  Motorcyclist could no longer pursue dream of joining Air Force.

Victim was bystander in drive-by shooting, was rushed to ER.  ER doctor was performing an elective surgery and did not do anything to help the victim before he died two hours later.  The surgeon told the hospital to "find another surgeon" but a back-up was not availabl...

35 year-old was having a benign growth removed from her uterus when her blood pressure dropped but the surgeon kept going.  After a 7-day trial, the jury returned a verdict of $3 Million for the family.

Driver of company 18-wheeler

 drove through red light, striking victim’s driver’s side, and killing victim.  Victim earned $25,000/year at local restaurant.  Verdict included $5 Million in punitive damages. 

Jury found against facility for $42.5 Million. 

Facility repeatedly administered sedatives to woman against her primary doctor’s instructions in order to chemically restrain her during her short stay at the facility, causing her to choke on food and die. 

A man who underwent a debilitating and unnecessary prostate cancer surgery.  The clinic confused him with a patient who really did have cancer.  The jury was not impressed.

An iron worker was horribly injured when he fell 13 feet while working on a bridge from a makeshift platform.  The jury returned a verdict for $22 Million against the employer.
