Nevertheless, the family doctor, over the phone, discontinued continuous electronic fetal monitoring in favor of intermittent monitoring despite several risk factors. After 30 minutes of fetal distress, a C-section was ordered. The child suffered permanent brain damage. The amount included over $8.5 Million in non-economic damages.
