Sergio has been presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award honoring America’s Top 100 Attorneys.  Selection for this recognition is by invitation only and is reserved to identify the nation’s most exceptional attorneys whose accomplishments and impact on the legal profession merit a Lifetime Achievement Award.  Selection is not achieved based on a single accomplishment or a single great year of success, but rather on a lifetime of hard work, ethical standards, and community enriching accomplishments that are inspiring among the legal profession.

In 2018, Sergio was selected as a TOP-10 Lawyer by the National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys as well as one of the 10-BEST by the American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys in the State of Hawai`i.

Less than 1% of attorneys receive either of these distinctions.  Those selected have demonstrated an extraordinary amount of knowledge, skill, experience, and success in their practice.  To be considered, a lawyer has to be nominated by a peer, vetted by the appropriate processing committee, and approved by the Board of Governors.  

In August 2017, Sergio was identified by SuperLawyers as a Top-Rated Lawyer in the categories of Medical Malpractice, Personal Injury, and Civil Litigation.

The National Trial Lawyers is an invitation-only organization composed of the premier trial lawyers from each state or region who meet stringent qualifications as civil plaintiff and/or criminal defense trial lawyers. Selection is based on a thorough multi-phase objective and uniformly-applied process which includes peer nominations combined with third-party research. Membership is extended only to the select few of the most qualified attorneys from each state or region who demonstrate superior qualifications of leadership, reputation, influence, stature and public profile measured by objective and uniformly applied standards.

In June 2017, Sergio was selected as one of the Top-25 attorneys in Hawai`i in the category of Medical Malpractice by The Medical Malpractice Trial Lawyers Association.

The Medical Malpractice Trial Lawyers Association – Top 25 is an invitation-only professional organization composed of and limited to the Top 25 attorneys from each state or region who serve individuals and families who need attorneys to represent them in the American legal system regarding Medical Malpractice claims. Members of the Medical Malpractice Trial Lawyers Association – Top 25 exemplify superior qualifications of leadership, reputation, influence and performance in their area of specialty. 

At trial, Sergio has a calm demeanor and really simplifies matters for the jury.  His approach to complicated medical malpractice issues is simple, focused, and practical.  He empowers the jury to do the right thing for his clients.
